How It Works

Your Translation Project Step by Step

Arranging a professional translation should be straightforward.

Whether you require a certified translation, specialist business document or technical translation from French or German into English, I aim to make the process simple, transparent and efficient from your initial enquiry through to final delivery.

Here's what you can expect when you work with Barnes Translations.

1. Request Your Free Quote

To receive a free, no-obligation quotation, simply email your documents to [email protected] or complete the online enquiry form below.

Response Time

I normally acknowledge enquiries on the same working day during office hours (Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm), and no later than the next working day.

How Your Quote Is Calculated

Every quotation is tailored to your individual project and takes into account:

  • Word count
  • Subject matter and complexity
  • Certification requirements (where applicable)
  • Formatting requirements
  • Required turnaround time

There is no obligation to proceed once you receive your quotation.

2. Prepare Your Documents

Providing clear, complete information helps ensure maximum accuracy, efficient project management and the most competitive quotation.

Preferred File Formats

Editable documents such as Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) are preferred wherever possible.

PDF files can usually be converted successfully; however, depending on the original formatting, additional preparation may occasionally be required.

If scanning facilities are unavailable, a clear photograph taken directly above the document is usually sufficient for quotation purposes.

Tell Me What You Need

Please let me know:

  • Whether the entire document requires translation or only selected pages or sections
  • Your preferred delivery format
  • Your deadline, if applicable
  • The intended purpose of the translation (for example, legal, business, immigration or academic use)

Additional Reference Material

If available, supporting documents such as glossaries, style guides, previous translations or website links are always helpful and assist in maintaining consistent terminology throughout your project.

3. Translation & Quality Assurance

Once you approve the quotation, I begin the translation process.

Every project is completed personally by me and undergoes careful quality assurance before delivery.

This includes:

  • Careful translation of the source text
  • Verification of terminology and consistency
  • Thorough proofreading
  • A final review to ensure the translation reads naturally in fluent British English

My objective is always to produce a translation that accurately reflects the meaning, tone and purpose of the original document.

Confidentiality

All documents and information entrusted to me are treated with the strictest confidentiality.

If your organisation requires additional protection, I am happy to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) before any files are exchanged.

4. Delivery

Your completed translation will be delivered on or before the agreed deadline in your preferred format.

Digital Delivery

Most projects are supplied electronically in an editable format via secure email.

Hard Copies

Where required, printed certified translations can be sent by post for official or legal purposes.
